Dress to Impress

Hello

So I happened to be just relaxing in my room today when a thought crossed my mind on some posts I have recently read to do with Theatre Etiquette. i know fashion and style is a widely loved topic and although i don't claim to know much about either one i feel the Theatre is one place where dress is important but seems to have gradually dissipated over time

Once there was a time when Gents would dress in full suits or tuxes and ladies equally were in their best dresses and formal wear.

Times have changed and matinees are often a little more casual than an evening show but now audiences wear outfits as casual as a scruffy tshirt and baggy jeans and I have even seen tracksuits before. I feel there is a balance in the formal but casual look when going to the theatre, I always dress up for an evening show as the atmosphere is more formal and its nice to make the effort.
A smart but casual top with blazer and jeans is the ideal look for men or a shirt whichever is preferred. A nice dress not to long or fitted gives a casual but well dressed formal look or like I often choose as it suits me more is a nice pair of fitted jeans with a smart top or blouse and a formal coat depending on the weather of course.

What do you think about dressing for the theatre? feel free to post your top tips and advice for dressing in the comments.

Farewell for now x

  1. I agree. I think that going to the theatre is special and people should dress up nicely. It's a very special treat to go so I make an effort to dress smartly.
